The Protect-A-Bed^® story dates back to the 1980s in South Africa where the first mattress protectors were created.  In early 2000, the company’s name was changed to Protect-A-Bed^® and it is currently represented in 27 countries.

The company’s goal was to create a mattress protector that was made of natural cotton Terry toweling, with a polyurethane Miracle Membrane™ backing, was 100% waterproof, breathable, allergy free, machine wash and dry, and provided a safe, healthy, comfortable sleep environment.

The material that Protect-A-Bed^® chose for its first protectors was originally used for car seat covers and table top protectors.  Over the past 25 years, the company has experienced extraordinary growth and is currently manufacturing its products in Spain, China, Australia, Vietnam and the United States.

An increasing awareness of health issues and the dangers resulting from an unhealthy sleep environment have made mattress and pillow protection an area of great concern to the medical profession and the anxious consumer.
